Head Coach - Lydia Mendelson
Lydia began diving in the NVSL at age 4 and has over a decade of experience as a dive coach in the NVSL, as well having served as the coach for Langley High School’s dive team for the past three seasons. She has coached divers of all ages and skill levels and always welcomes newcomers to the sport. Her main objective as coach is to help divers to grow as athletes, friends, teammates, and leaders, while having a fun and safe summer vacation.
assistant Coach - Ellie Smith
Ellie Smith is happy to join the coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2019 season. This is her third year as a coach and has been a member of GFS&T dive team for eleven years. At age 12, Ellie recognized her passion for diving and went on to dive competitively with Dominion Dive Club where she continued until this past winter. She has been an all- star qualifier for the last seven years, placing 4th in the senior division last year. In 2016, she competed in USA Diving Nationals in both 1 meter and 3 meter events and placed within the top 50. She has been MVP of her high school dive team for the past two years. Ellie is a graduating senior at Holy Child in Potomac, Maryland, and she plans to attend JMU in the fall. She is looking forward to another great season with Rapids Divers!
Assistant Coach - THom Davis
Thom Davis is excited to return to the coaching staff as an assistant coach this year. He just finished his freshman year at University of Maryland. He is a 2018 graduate of the Heights School where he was a member of the Swim and Dive team. In 2017 he placed 8th in the National Catholic Swimming and Diving Championship. Thom has been a member of the Great Falls Dive team for seven year and is a three time MVP winner. He placed first in the Divisional Championship meet in 2013 and 2014. He has represented Great Falls numerous times in the All Star Championship meet.
